Spring Training

 

 

Dear Spring Trainer,

Welcome to the 18th Annual U.B.A. Spring Training! One of only a few events nation wide that attract the attention of: USA baseball, The Major League Scouting bureau, Professional Scouts, Area Code Baseball and College Coaches. You will find enclosed a schedule of events for the entire weekend, and a map to tell you how to get there. Make sure you study it before-hand and get to your station on time so we can keep everything running smoothly.

While in Mesquite:
The people at both the high school and the city have been great to us over the years. It is very important that we extend them the same courtesy.
Please make sure that you do not go in the school with your spikes on, and that you throw all your trash in a trash can. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

For Your Information:
1. We are on Pacific time or Nevada time.
2. Find your name on the Spring Training list. That will tell you what
group you are in.
3. Check in Saturday morning 15 minutes early at your first station.
4. T-shirts will be available at field A at 7:00 am Saturday morning.
5. 12 and under division - T-shirt’s will be at your station on Saturday morning.
6. Players will not be allowed on the field without their Spring Training
shirt on
.
7. There will be a snack bar set up at the two main fields for you
convenience.
8. Field D, Saturday’s & Sunday’s sessions will be in the cafeteria.
9. Orientations will be at your first station.


What to Bring:
The temperature in Mesquite ranges anywhere from 45 to 70 degrees this time
of year. Make sure you are prepared for all conditions including rain.
Should the weather get real bad we will provide the same instruction
indoors. If you have any questions, check the trailer located in the high
school parking lot. Make sure you have baseball pants or sweats.

Parents:
You are welcome and encouraged to observe at all of the stations you would
like. There are three stations, however we highly suggest you don’t miss.
On Saturday ( field C) There will be a college road map seminar, developing
the skills to get a college education playing baseball. On Sunday (field C)                                                                                                       BASEBALL'S MENTAL FUNDAMENTALS presented by Karl Kruehl-Former                                                                                                                Major League Manager, coach, Director of Player Development, co-author                                                                                                                        of the books, "The Mental Game of Baseball" and "Mental Toughness: Baseball                                                                                                  Winning Edge."  Karl was recipient of the 2006 Baseball America's Roland Hemond                                                                                                    for contributions to scouting and player development.  The book "Mental Toughness"                                                                                                      and the DVD, "Baseballs Fundamentals" will be available for purchase.                                                                                                                          
On Sat  the SPARQ caravan will be on field E to give each players a free SPARQ Rating.

12 and under division:
The twelve and under division will meet at the new fields by the rec. center
which are located just south of the Old Mesquite Star (field K). Be there
at 9:00 Sat. morning for orientation.

Universal Athletics will once again be on site with a pro shop and some red
hot deals for your convenience.

The traditional Saturday night show case will no longer exist. The
Professional Scouts and Area Code staff will be evaluating players through
out the weekend.
 
  Camp T-shirts must be worn all three days.  They can be picked up at the trailer at the Virgin Valley High School parking lot Friday night between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. and Saturday morning beginning at 7:00 a.m.
